    The second phase of Uruguay’s transformation, which will enable the country to position itself as an export hub, will include the development of the green hydrogen value chain and its derivatives (ie: e-fuels, ammonia, fertilizers).

    Within this framework, the Uruguayan government, under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), launched in June 2022, the Green Hydrogen Roadmap for Uruguay. 

    In addition to the production of efuels, companies producing biofuels are exempt from 100% income tax for a period of 10 years, as well as from capital gains tax on fixed assets.

    Uruguay has very good availability of raw materials of agricultural origin at local level and it is also very easy to source from neighboring countries for larger scale.​
