For the third consecutive year, Uruguay played a leading role at South Summit Brazil, one of the most important innovation and technology events in Latin America, held in Porto Alegre. The national participation was the result of a joint initiative between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uruguay XXI, Uruguay Innovation Hub, and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI). The delegation brought together more than 20 Uruguayan companies with the aim of securing business deals, attracting investment, and fostering strategic alliances.

The delegation included technology sector companies as well as key institutional players such as the Rivera Departmental Government, the innovation center Área B, the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC), and Cubo Itaú Uruguay. This diversity of profiles strengthened cross-sector collaboration and opened new opportunities for cooperation both within and beyond the country.

Uruguay's presence stood out on multiple fronts: from a national pavilion and participation in panels to side events and the main program. The national stand, which featured companies such as Arkano, Neural Think, A&M Consulting, Frame, Unimate RPA, Simpletech, Abstracta, Perceptiva, Bord, Akua, Tecspal, Codiversity, Flipzen, Ecovis Uruguay, and Millsonic, showcased a dynamic sector that already includes more than 500 companies.

In addition, two Uruguayan startups — Nanogrow and Tecspal — reached the final round of the Startup Competition, reaffirming the potential of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Out of more than 2,000 applicants, only 50 startups were selected as finalists, and just ten advanced to the final stage, where Nanogrow was awarded as the most disruptive startup of the competition.

The week kicked off with the Community Summit, a gathering of South Summit Brazil’s strategic partners. Uruguay XXI participated in the panel "Strategies for Internationalization" which explored tools and approaches to support companies in expanding globally. That same day, the agency was recognized as an ecosystem partner of the event, alongside Instituto Caldeira and Tecnopuc, among more than 150 allied organizations.

During the Global Summit — a gathering of all international delegations — Eduardo Vargas, Vice President of Markets at CUTI, joined the panel "Global Connection – Pathways to Business Internationalization", emphasizing the importance of Uruguayan startups adopting a global mindset from day one. On that same day, at the "Brazil–Uruguay Business Opportunities" session, Uruguay was presented as Latin America's leading business and innovation hub. This event was organized by Sebrae, Tecnopuc, Reginp, the Rivera Departmental Government, Border Hub, and Uruguay XXI.

Throughout the three-day event, Uruguay XXI sponsored various activities led by Instituto Caldeira to foster networking opportunities with key players in Porto Alegre's innovation ecosystem, further strengthening Uruguay’s international positioning as a regional leader in business and innovation. These encounters helped deepen strategic ties and explore opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

Uruguayan talent also shone in key panels of the main event. Santiago Rosenblatt (Strike) participated in "From Investment to Scale: Lessons in Growth and Fundraising", Josefina Correa (Xeptiva) moderated "Biotech in Latam: Challenges and Opportunities", and Victoria Suárez Araújo (Codiversity / Pindata) joined "Scaling Smart: How Startups Can Maximize Valuation and Scale Successfully".

With a rich agenda, a diverse delegation, and the largest international presence at South Summit Brazil 2025, Uruguay once again reinforced its status as a regional innovation leader — showcasing its ability to connect talent, knowledge, and opportunities on the global stage.
