Laura Santullo, Milton Fornaro, Mariana Casares and Leo Masliah are some of the authors whose works will be translated in the 2024 edition of the IDA Program, coordinated by the National Directorate of Culture and the investment, export and country image promotion agency, Uruguay XXI.

The IDA Program provides support for the translation of Uruguayan literary works with the aim of boosting the export of Uruguayan literature. It is aimed at foreign publishers who wish to publish Uruguayan works in a language other than Spanish and at Uruguayan publishers and authors who wish to promote a work abroad or produce an audiobook.

In its sixth edition, it will support the internationalization of 15 Uruguayan literary works, translating them into languages such as English, Arabic, Danish, Swedish, Greek, French and Italian. In addition, it will enable the translation into English of two excerpts of works and the production of an audiobook.

The program was born in 2019 and since then it allowed the promotion of more than 60 Uruguayan authors by translating more than 50 works into 11 languages. Through the lines aimed at national publishers a dozen of excerpts of works were translated into English for international promotion and eight audiobooks were produced.
