New York Times highlights the career of musician Jorge Drexler in light of his latest work

In an extensive article on its digital front page, the prestigious U.S. media exposed the virtues of the Uruguayan composer who won an Oscar.

For his new work called "Tinta y tiempo", created entirely during the pandemic and in which the artist goes through the different stages of love, the Uruguayan Jorge Drexler was interviewed by the prominent music critic Jon Pareles and was on the cover of the digital version of the New York Times.

The publication highlighted his art as an author linking the thoroughness of his compositions with his training in medicine. "I began to realize that there was something about the way I was looking at things that was foreign, or mine. I realized that I was looking at human relationships from the biological or scientific side, and I started to merge them within the songs," he stated in an interview with the U.S. newspaper.

The interview, conducted at his home and music studio in Madrid, proposed a journey through different symphonies that show how music connects different corners of the world, a vision that the Uruguayan embodies in his more than thirty years of experience.

Drexler's music is folk and alternative rock, influenced by traditional Uruguayan genres such as candombe, murga, milonga and tango. In addition, his music adds the styles of bossa nova, pop, jazz and electronic music.

With multiple awards, in addition to the Oscar in 2005 for his song "Al otro lado del río" for the Uruguayan film "Diarios de Motocicleta", in his more than 30 years he has accumulated numerous nominations and awards at the Latin Grammy, Gardel Awards, Mtv Latin Awards and Premios de la Música de (Spain), among others.
