In a significant visit to Uruguay, a delegation of Princeton University students plunged into the heart of the country to understand the keys to its success and progress. Led by Professor Juan Carlos Pinzón, leader of the mission, the students will meet with authorities and leaders, exploring in depth the policies that have made Uruguay a benchmark in Latin America.
“We are in Uruguay visiting, perhaps, the number one country in Latin America in a good part of the indicators of democracy, stability, technology and connectivity, environment and new technologies. Uruguay is an impressive country, so we have come with a group of students from Princeton University to get to know it and understand the policies that have allowed it to be exemplary in Latin America. Of course, we have also come to learn about the challenges they face, like any other country, to think about policies that can contribute to their development”, said Professor Pinzón.
The delegation from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs is composed of specially selected students focused on public policy and international issues. Their interest is focused on understanding and contributing to the development of Latin America. They chose Uruguay as a destination because of its outstanding performance in governance, stability, and technology adoption.
“We are in Uruguay, not by chance. We have been studying Latin America in our courses. As a region, it has enormous potential for progress and growth. Still, when you study Latin America very quickly, you find that Uruguay is the number one country in many of the rankings that have to do with governance, stability, and technology adoption, and that is why we find it so important to know why Uruguay has these achievements and how we can help to make this better known,” Pinzón emphasized.
The delegation plans to produce a detailed report on how Uruguay can advance, highlighting its history in global markets and proposing ideas to strengthen its continued development. With the background of Professor Pinzón, who visited Uruguay during his role as Colombia’s Minister of State, the delegation praised the country’s progress and highlighted the friendliness and conviviality of its people.
“I had the opportunity in my functions as Minister of State of Colombia to come here to Uruguay, and I was delighted to return because I see the country progressing and I find that country of always, full of friendly people, who live with tranquility, with good coexistence,” concluded the professor.
