The prestigious scientific journal Nature mentioned the Honorary Scientific Advisory Group (GACH), which was created for the purpose of advising the government in the context of the pandemic, within the examples of the types of governance and financing of each country to combat the coronavirus.
"This group, composed of 55 members, holds weekly meetings with subgroups, makes biweekly reports, holds special meetings with the president and has daily contact with the government", the magazine detailed in reference to the coordination between the State and the scientists.
The text also indicated that the measures that have been announced to contain the advance of the coronavirus since the group was formed "have the support" of the scientists.
On the other hand, the magazine recalled the moment when the green light was given to the construction company to resume work after the works had been stopped. "Random tests were performed on construction workers covering the entire country to identify possible outbreaks during the reopening measures," it said.
This example was mentioned as one of the strategies followed by Uruguay in terms of diagnostic tests. Also mentioned were the swabs in residential homes and those carried out at the border on workers wishing to enter the country.
On April 16, 2020, the group that advises the Presidency of the Republic began to operate, with Dr. Rafael Radi, as general coordinator, and Dr. Fernando Paganini and Dr. Henry Cohen, who accompany him in the general coordination.
But it also brings together 55 scientists from different specialties: health, assistance, prevention, models and data science. In recent months, the group also added specialists in the areas of education and behavioral analysis.
