Uruguay Boosts International Visibility at ‘Agro en Punta’ Ahead of Expo Osaka 2025

Uruguay’s participation in Agro en Punta 2025 has been crucial for planning its involvement in Expo Osaka 2025, which will begin in mid-April. In this context, Marca País has played a key role in promoting the country as a center for innovation and technology in South America. They brought together significant players from the agricultural and business sectors at Uruguay’s stand during the event.

Sebastián Risso, the executive director of Uruguay XXI and the current commissioner for Expo Osaka, along with the new commissioner, Benjamín Liberoff, who will take office on March 1, held institutional and commercial meetings with representatives from various business chambers and strategic sectors. These included forestry and wine, featuring the participation of the National Institute of Viticulture (INAVI), in wool, meat, rice, and agricultural research. They also invited small enterprises that embody Uruguayan identity through their artisanal and cultural values and companies certified with the country brand Uruguay by LSQA. Additionally, a meeting was held with SUTUR, the association of tourism establishments in rural and natural areas, to strengthen the strategy for promoting sustainable tourism in the country.

At the Uruguay stand at Agro en Punta, the team working on preparations for the universal exposition provided information on how to participate. Furthermore, meetings were conducted with the organizers of Agro en Punta and the Punta del Este Convention Center to reinforce the country’s strategy for participating in the world exposition.

Under the slogan “Designing the Society of the Future, Imagining Our Life Tomorrow,” Expo Osaka 2025 is evolving into a platform for innovation and international cooperation. Uruguay aims to leverage this opportunity to enhance its image as a leader in technology, sustainability, and responsible agricultural production while strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia and positioning itself in new strategic markets.

Participation in Expo Osaka is not only aimed at attracting investment and strengthening commercial ties, but also at promoting initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Uruguay will project its leadership in digital transformation and tourism, highlighting its model of sustainable development and its commitment to the construction of global public goods.

Expo 2025 will open its doors on April 13, 2025 and will bring together millions of visitors from all over the world, offering a space conducive to the generation of new ideas and solutions to global challenges.
