The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uruguay XXI and a delegation of exporting companies are participating in the Americas Food & Beverage Show, a leading international trade fair aimed exclusively at food and beverage professionals. This event, which takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, brings together more than 7,000 attendees and has the participation of more than 700 exhibitors and buyers from 93 countries.
For the first time, Uruguay will have a country stand at this global platform, offering exporters an opportunity to connect with international leaders in the food sector. The Uruguayan delegation, made up of the companies Beea, Goland, Black River Caviar, Montes Toscanini and La Trigueña, includes leading companies in the production of honey, hemp seed-based foods, caviar, wines and prepared foods.
Uruguay has consolidated its reputation as a high-quality food supplier, preferred in demanding markets such as Europe, the United States and Japan. With the capacity to feed 30 million people and the potential for 20 million more, Uruguayan products reach more than 150 countries. Key sectors such as meat, rice, dairy products and soybeans have positioned Uruguay on the global map of exporters, with comparative advantages in agri-food production.
The agro-industrial sector, which accounts for 80% of Uruguay's total exports of goods, with food contributing 57%, plays a crucial role in the national economy, contributing significantly to GDP, employment and exports. The combination of historical experience, strict sanitary controls and the adoption of technology in production processes has enabled the country to offer products valued internationally for their quality.
Uruguay also stands out as a leader in sustainable production and processing of differentiated quality foods. With 93% of its land suitable for agricultural use and a production supported by natural resources, innovation and local talent, it promotes practices that protect the environment and ensure food safety. This industry leads in ESG factors (environmental, social and governance) and guarantees labor standards that promote the welfare of animals and people involved in the production chain.
In a global context of growing food demand due to population and purchasing power growth, Uruguay is positioned as a strategic option as a food supplier, with a competitive food sector and a potential for continuous development.
