Uruguay will participate in the second edition of Gamescom Latam, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from April 30 to May 4, 2025. The event, which emerged from expanding the prestigious BIG Festival, has established itself as a strategic space for the video game industry in Latin America.
Uruguay XXI will coordinate the national presence in collaboration with the Uruguayan Chamber of Video Game Developers (CAVI) and the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency (ACAU) under the sectoral brand Uruguay Video Games. The delegation will be made up of the studios Batovi Games, Fireborne Games, Ironhide Game Studio, Mucho Games, Ultraton Studios, and Team Brunomir, which will showcase their developments to consolidate the international projection of the Uruguayan industry.

This participation is part of a sustained international promotion strategy, which recently included Uruguay’s presence at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, held annually in San Francisco, California. Uruguay also made an excellent impression at the first edition of Gamescom Latam in June 2024. On that occasion, Uruguay’s participation stood out for the projects’ quality, reflected in the nomination of three national video games in international and regional categories.
The 2025 edition of Gamescom Latam will offer the national delegation a key platform to generate new export opportunities, strengthen strategic contacts, and enhance the sector’s image internationally. Uruguay XXI will accompany the participating companies and coordinate its agenda of business meetings.
As part of the planned activities, composer and sound designer Gonzalo Varela will give a talk entitled “Musical Adrenaline: Composing for Action and Combat Scenarios.” In it, he will address the challenges of composing music for action and combat scenes in video games, illustrating his presentation with examples from works such as Fight’N Rage and Neon Inferno.
In addition, the Uruguayan studio Batovi Games, founded in 2005 in Montevideo and recognized for multiplatform developments such as Charrúa Soccer and Pixel Cup Soccer: Ultimate Edition, will compete at Gamescom Latam 2025 with its new project Slidemagi. The video game, nominated in the Best Game: Latin America 2025 category, offers an innovative turn-based strategy dynamic in which players, like wizards, manipulate the lines on the board to move their units and cast spells using cards with unique abilities.
This nomination reinforces Batovi Games’ international prestige and highlights the creative quality of Uruguay’s video game ecosystem. Participation in Gamescom Latam 2025 will reaffirm Uruguay’s video game industry’s sustained growth and increasing relevance, driven by its excellent technological infrastructure, young and creative talent, and supportive ecosystem that positions the country as a benchmark in Latin America for developing creative and technological industries.
