Uruguay is finalizing the details for its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka. In preparation, a delegation from the country attended the International Participants Meeting (IPM) 2024, a crucial event for this prestigious universal exposition to be held in the Japanese city.

The executive director of Uruguay XXI, Sebastián Risso; the Uruguayan ambassador to Japan, Victoria Francolino; the director of Intelligence and Trade and Investment Promotion of the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Silvana Lesca; the consul general of Uruguay in Tokyo, Maximiliano Da Silva and the Country Brand manager of Uruguay XXI, Larissa Perdomo, were part of the delegation that represented Uruguay at this critical meeting.

IPM 2024 gathered representatives from over 160 countries to discuss operational, logistical, and content-related aspects of Expo 2025. The expo is scheduled to take place in Osaka, Japan, for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025. This will be Osaka’s third time hosting a Universal Exposition, following its previous events in 1970 and 1990.

Universal Expos, held every five years, are global gatherings designed to find solutions to current challenges. They act as meeting points for governments, businesses, organizations, and individuals, promoting education and progress through international cooperation.

Approximately 28 million visitors are expected at Expo 2025, whose central theme will be “Designing the Future Society for Our Lives." This theme seeks to inspire people to reflect on how they want to live and to promote the creation of sustainable societies.

Uruguay’s participation underscores the country’s commitment to international cooperation and the search for innovative solutions to global challenges.
