Uruguay reaffirmed its leadership as a provider of technology and innovation on the continent with outstanding participation in eMerge Americas 2025, the most important event in the sector in the region, which is held annually at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The Uruguayan presence was promoted by the agency for the promotion of investment, exports and the country’s image, Uruguay XXI, in collaboration with the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology - CUTI (an organization that brings together companies in the Uruguayan technology sector), and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the governing body of the country’s foreign policy), Uruguay Innovation Hub (UIH), and the Consulate of Uruguay in Miami.

With a delegation of more than 30 technology companies, Uruguay presented its renewed value proposition to a global ecosystem that brought together more than 20,000 attendees and 4,000 organizations from more than 50 countries. In this context, the country reached a milestone with the international presentation of the new brand “Uruguay Technology,” which highlights its talent, cutting-edge infrastructure, and favorable environment for developing high-impact technology.

The objectives were clear: to position Uruguay as a regional hub for business and innovation, support startups in their internationalization, promote the country’s portfolio of projects, and strengthen links with key players in the investment ecosystem. This strategy prioritized the United States, the leading destination for exports in the sector.

In addition to the main event, the Uruguayan delegation participated in multiple parallel activities, reinforcing its visibility in the venture capital ecosystem. One was the fifth edition of the VC Latam Summit, which brought together venture capital investors (GPs and LPs) from Latin America and the United States, promoting the region as an attractive investment destination.

There, Sylvia Chebi and Sara Goldberg, representing URUCAP, the Uruguayan private equity and venture capital association, together with Uruguay XXI, presented the investment opportunities offered by the country and the attractive tax incentives for establishing funds and companies. Support tools for venture capital and startups were also presented, such as the Uruguay XXI Investment Project Portfolio and Matching Funds, which are jointly coordinated by ANII and UIH.

It was also an opportunity to highlight the key role of Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) in the strategic financing of startups in a panel moderated by the president of URUCAP, Sylvia Chebi, with references such as Derek Norman (Leaps by Bayer, United States) and Adolfo Vinatea (Krealo, Peru).

The Uruguayan biotechnology company Xeptiva was one of the event’s stars, winning first place in the Demoday Top Latam Startups, consolidating the quality of national innovation on the international stage.

Another milestone was the networking lunch co-organized by Microsoft and Southworks. It included a roundtable on artificial intelligence and its impact on business, where trends and challenges were discussed, as well as how companies can adapt to the new technological scenario.

In parallel, Uruguay participated in initiatives organized by Mana Tech, Lazo, and allies such as Draper Cygnus, Morgan Stanley, and Southworks. These initiatives included more relaxed gatherings, such as a welcome cocktail and a boat trip on Miami Bay, generating valuable opportunities for networking with relevant players in the ecosystem.

The institutional support of Uruguay XXI and its strategic partners in these key events demonstrates the country’s commitment to developing venture capital and consolidating a favorable environment for innovation. Uruguay is positioning itself again as a reliable and visionary partner on the road to global digital transformation.
