Parque de las Ciencias

Parque de las Ciencias (PDLC) is a logistics, industrial, service, and high-tech park that offers companies the opportunity to operate under Uruguay’s Free Trade Zone regime across an 85-hectare site, forming one of the region’s leading clusters for life sciences, high technology, and value-added industries.

Operating since 2010, more than 110 companies use its infrastructure to develop their regional or global businesses from Uruguay.

Located in the so-called “innovation hub” of the Department of Canelones, Uruguay, it features state-of-the-art infrastructure and buildings specially designed to house highly complex service, commercial, and industrial activities.

Taking advantage of the industrial characteristics of its infrastructure, the main pharmaceutical production companies in Uruguay’s Free Trade Zone are located there, such as Megalabs, which has a plant of over 23,000 m², its headquarters, and a Research and Development center unique in Uruguay, producing sterile, solid, and ophthalmic medications for all of the Americas.

Currently, more than 80% of the companies based in Parque de las Ciencias are engaged in activities related to the life sciences, high technology, and high value-added sectors, including: pharmaceutical and veterinary laboratories; suppliers of raw materials for human and animal health; specialized service providers in the pharmaceutical industry (engineering, cleanrooms, auditing, packaging and package insert production, among others), logistics operators specializing in healthcare products, a GMP facility for drug production, a GMP facility for injectable production, contract manufacturing services for injectables, vials, and pre-filled syringes, physical and chemical analysis and quality control of raw materials and finished products for third parties, a GMP facility for the extraction of CBD oil and pure crystals, cloning bank and THC extraction facility, pharmaceutical R&D center, microbiology and physical-chemical control laboratory, genetic diagnostics laboratory, biological raw material production facility, serum production facilities, biotechnology laboratory specializing in precision medicine solutions, next-generation DNA and RNA sequencing, among other industries.

In August 2024, Google announced the start of construction on its data center in Parque de las Ciencias, with an investment of $850 million. Construction is currently underway.

GXO, a global company specializing in logistics solutions for large corporations, is setting up its new logistics center in Parque de las Ciencias. The company operates in more than 27 countries and works with leading brands in sectors such as e-commerce, technology, manufacturing, and retail. It is known for its significant investment in automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
